Gender discrimination at gas stations

“A special lane for mothers to fill up in the north”, this was confirmed by “Sawt Beirut International” correspondent, Ibrahim Fatfat, who explained that a number of gas stations in the north had specified a special lane for women in order to avoid standing in queues.

The general manager of a chain of gas stations explained the reason for taking this step, saying, “The lane is for mothers. We were able to do this step in two stations and we are trying to do it at the rest of the stations, because mothers have other hardships”.

A woman said, “I came from Akkar because there was no station. I went to a station in Qalamoun, which allocated a lane for us. It saved us, as mothers, a lot of time.”

Another said, “We thank the owners of the station for this lane, but that does not prevent us from standing in a queue for hours. This is the era of humiliation and. We live in the worst stage.” She addressed Bassil saying, “Isn’t he seeing what is happening, or is he just trying to fill his pockets?”
