Has sense of masculinity vanished in Lebanon?

A great switch in Lebanon: from the traditional “Sherwal”to the tight pants! With the advent of high-waisted pants in the 1980s and very wide pants in the 1990s, we saw the beginning of the trend of displaying the inner pants to the outside as a form of “jugalism.” Fashion in general and targeted at males in particular have undergone numerous stages of development. There is an end stage for every craze, yet it seems that following each end, a peculiar beginning emerges.

The men of this era have developed an obsession with their physical appearance; they touch and flirt with it in the gyms; their only common topics of conversation are the calories they consume and the specifics of their bodies; they use lasers to remove hair; they trim their nails; and they top their narcissism with fashionable attire.

Is elegance a viable alternative to losing one’s manhood?
