The British Ministry of Defense said that Russian air activity remained intense over the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine, where Russian aircraft launched strikes using both guided and unguided munitions, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread destruction.

For its part, Ukraine confirmed that it had regained control of twenty percent of the industrial city of Severodonetsk, which is the focus of the Russian offensive in the Donbass region.
The Ukrainian military said Russia had reinforced its forces and used artillery to launch offensive operations in the city.
