Hospitals sound alarm: We are in big trouble

It seems that the hospital’s sufferings will last for a long time. Despite all the warnings they launched that the sector is deteriorating, but the officials’ consciences did not wake up.

The minimum steadfastness elements are not available anymore, and if things remain as is, it will inevitably lead to the closure of a large number of hospitals. The economic and financial meltdown, have dealt a blow to all sectors in Lebanon, including the hospital sector. Lifting subsidies on medical and non-medical supplies has also worsened the situation and led to a severe increase in the cost of hospitalization.

The biggest hurdle today is the Corona epidemic, which is tending towards more exacerbation with the high number of infections, especially among the citizens who have not received the vaccine until now. Will hospitals be able to confront the epidemic and its fierce variants, especially after a large number of it closed the departments dedicated for Corona, due to the lack of a medical staff capable of treating them?

For years, Lebanon was famous for being the hospital of the Middle East, but today, with our irresponsible officials and the deterioration of the economic situation, will it turn into a graveyard for people?
