According to the official Iranian news agency, three persons were killed when a warplane crashed in the northern area of Tabriz.

The aircraft was an F-5 meant for training, according to the agency, and it crashed at a sports field belonging to a school in Tabriz’s center.

The disaster claimed the lives of both pilots and a bystander. The fighter also caught fire when it crashed, and firefighting crews tried to extinguish it as security authorities enforced a tight security perimeter around the accident site.
