The economic crisis in Lebanon is still going strong… especially with the sharp rise in dollar and fuel prices, which are threatening the most important vital sectors, including bakeries, whose owners protested yesterday in front of the Ministry of Economy and Trade building in the commercial center, demanding a revision in the price of a bundle of bread due to sharp fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate.

Moreover, the Lebanese are growing increasingly afraid that bakeries may go down since they are all on the edge of bankruptcy, especially because 75 percent of the raw materials used in the bread business, as well as maintenance and spare parts, are paid in dollars.

The citizen of today bemoans the lack of governmental presence… Is our country facing a new catastrophe as a result of the loss of bread and wheat from the markets, which will be added to the country’s long list of seismic crises.
