Isn’t Eid meant to be a happy occasion?

“This year, the joy of Eid has turned into tragedy; in the past, the crowds were unfathomable,” a resident exclaimed, adding, “May God punish those who starved people and killed the city and Lebanon.”

How can Eid be a happy occasion in light of tragedies and aches that the citizen witnesses on a daily basis? This year’s markets are different; no food is sold, no sweets are consumed, and no clothing is purchased, as is customary each year. A citizen said, “During the worst days of war and explosions, we lived better than this horrible era of Michel Aoun, the era of people starving, dying of hunger.”

People could no longer buy meat, according to a butcher, as the price of a kilo of meat hit 220,000 pounds.

With all of the suffocation that the citizens are experiencing, how could people celebrate and feel the spirit of Eid?
