Judge Ghada Aoun carries out covenant’s purpose by summoning Major General Othman

The repercussions from Judge Ghada Aoun’s summons to the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Othman, is still being felt, as is the prosecution of Riad Salameh, Governor of the Banque du Liban.

Aoun’s judicial efforts are believed to be supported by a political team led by President Michel Aoun and the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil. It is also evident that the orange judge does not perform her duties except on a piecemeal and on demand basis.

How do the Lebanese perceive the actions of the Public Prosecution Office at the Court of Appeal in Mount Lebanon?

The Supreme Judicial Council, which has frequently voiced its displeasure with Judge Ghada Aoun’s actions and summoned her, but in vain, calls into doubt the judiciary’s independence.

Today, more than ever, the Supreme Judicial Council must play its role in limiting Judge Ghada Aoun’s dereliction of duty and flagrant violations, so that the balance of justice is not tipped in favor of a particular partisan group and the Palace of Justice does not become the palace of the occupied people.
