The General Directorate of Public Security has taken the decision to stop work on the platform designated for booking appointments for obtaining passports, as of 4/27/2022. The decision, according to the Director-General of Public Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, is for financial reasons and is due to the failure to transfer the funds necessary to continue issuing passports. Only reservations that have previously been scheduled on the platform will be issued passports, but additional dates will not be given because the passports stock will run out in April 2023 and there will be no possibility of booking after this date until the money is transferred to us and the French company meets its dues to supply us with passports.
So today, the Lebanese has become a prisoner and a prisoner inside his country, by a decision of the decision makers… And the officials are hurling responsibilities and charges regarding the opening of the necessary credits and the exchange rate, as if stripping the citizen of his minimum rights has become a normal matter that does not concern them, neither from near nor from afar. They insist on finding additional reasons to push in the direction of more collapses.
Will the concerned rectify this collapse? Or is reaching the bottom of Hell inevitably coming, in which the Lebanese will also witness to the phenomenon of the “black market passport”?
