Lebanon is participating in Expo 2020‎ despite all the economic difficulties

Lebanon will participate in Expo 2020 without assigning the Lebanese government even one pound.

192 countries in the world, and Lebanon is one of them, will participate in the expo 2020, which will be held in Dubai in October of this year, to showcase its most important products, services and inventions to market its country in the best possible way for a period of 6 months, with the aim of improving and developing its economy.

Lebanon faced many difficulties to participate in this exhibition, which was scheduled to be held in 2020, which was postponed due to the pandemic. The Lebanese state had allocated $5 million to participate in it, but that was before the collapse of the currency exchange rate and the depletion of the Banque du Liban’s foreign currency account, which was originally made up of depositors’ money. Today, when preparing for the expo, Lebanon decided not to participate due to the lack of funding. The UAE decided to present the building of the pavilion as a “gift” making sure that the Lebanese state guarantee the construction of the interior decoration.

The Ministry of Economy, through its Director General, Muhammad Abu Haidar, decided to “contract a partnership” with the private sector, specifically through the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon, so that the latter would finance the design, equipping and operation of the Lebanese pavilion without assigning anything to the Lebanese state to ensure Lebanon’s participation in the exhibition because it is the ideal platform to view the world, promoting its products and services and attracting new capital and investments that pump money into the local economy.

Lebanon’s participation in this international exhibition, especially in Dubai, constitutes a torch of hope in the darkness of the country, which suffers from many crises and problems.
