While the group of owners of private generators announced the adoption of the pricing in dollars or according to the parallel market, Caretaker Energy Minister Walid Fayyad will hold a meeting tomorrow to sign a gas leasing agreement under which 700 million cubic meters of gas will be drawn from Egypt through Syria, allowing an increase of 4 hours per day of electricity.
Sawt Beirut International sources confirm that the signing is a positive event in the midst of these circumstances, but it is not sufficient in light of the existence of a basket of conditions proposed by the World Bank, the first of which is raising the tariff, which has not changed since 1994, appointing a transparent regulatory body aimed at separating politics from the electricity file, reducing technical and non-technical waste, meaning that the collection is fair and paid in parallel between all regions, in addition to granting the World Bank the power to disclose the electricity account at the Banque du Liban.
