The majority of Lebanon’s sectors are shut down, but the immigration sector continues to operate normally. From a year ago till present, the number of people planning to immigrate to Lebanon has risen more than threefold. Immigrants in Lebanon are selling everything they own, without exception, in order to embark on “irreversible immigration.”
Immigration and Visa Counselor Sami Shehadeh explained to Sawt Beirut International’s reporter, Ghassan Farran that “the economic situation in Lebanon is more difficult than the state of war, and we have noticed in the years 2020 and 2021 a mind-blowing increase in the number of people who are seeking immigrate to any country, even to African countries, because at present, even African countries are better than Lebanon. Some people hope that there will be a war in Lebanon in order to resort to asylum, and they are entitled, like other nationalities, to apply for asylum. ”
“Anyone whose file is approved as an immigrant to Canada and elsewhere is a person who would definitely have benefited Lebanon if he would have stayed. We are trying to convince people to manage their affairs at this stage in their country, but they are not being able to survive anymore. In light of this crisis, and whenever embassies reopen their doors to emigration, between 70 and 80 of the Lebanese people will leave”, Farran added.
Shehadeh pointed out that “depression among the Lebanese is unimaginable, and if anyone was in my shoes, he would have started consuming chill pills because of the staggering immigration rate.”
Who will restore the Lebanese people’s faith in his country? The country that was once a hope and a refuge for many people all over the world has now turned into a phantom!
