On its 17th anniversary… What happened to Mar Mikhael agreement?

The sixth day of February marks the seventeenth anniversary of the Mar Mikhael understanding. As for its parties, the arch-allies, Hezbollah and the Aounist movement, they celebrate silently at a time when their disputes and their silent and declared differences abound.

Despite Hezbollah’s visit to Rabieh a few days ago… and Michel Aoun’s reception of the delegation, in an attempt by both sides to confirm the progress of the alliance, no one can deny the coldness in the relationship between them… especially with Bassil’s suggestions and threats to break up the relationship!

What is certain is that the old Mar Mikhael agreement has been dissolved, unless the two parties have an interest in over-contracting the alliance, and not in dispensing with each other.. So what is the future of this relationship? Are we witnessing the “new” Mar Mikhael agreement?

The only straw that could break the camel’s back today is Hezbollah’s public announcement of Suleiman Franjieh’s candidacy for the presidency. Will he do it to end the Mar Mikhael agreement?
