Saad Lamjarred’s concert in Baghdad canceled after opponents tried to storm it

Last Thursday night, the administration of the tourist city of “Sinbad Land” in Baghdad canceled the concert of Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred, hours before it began. After protesters stormed the concert venue. Hundreds of opponents, led by clerics, gathered in front of the tourist city, and raised banners opposing holding the ceremony.

Some demonstrators tried to storm the tourist city, but the riot police managed to repel them, until the administration canceled the party completely.
Frequently, armed factions, and demonstrators among their supporters, are pressing for the cancellation of artistic and singing concerts, claiming that they coincide with religious ceremonies, or that they contravene prevailing norms and religious teachings.
