SBI explore designated Prime Minister’s identity

The date for binding parliamentary consultations to assign a new prime minister is caught between the agreement on the government formation before being called for it, and the departure of the American mediator in the file of maritime border demarcation, Amos Hochstein, according to SBI sources.

Several names appear behind the scenes, starting with Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Representative Fouad Makhzoumi and Representative Ashraf Rifi, through the caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam al-Mawlawi and Economy Minister Amin Salam, to Ambassador Nawaf Salam and international and financial expert Saleh al-Nusoli.

And until the date of consultations is set, what is the position of the Strong Republic bloc on the identity and specifications of the designated president?

The Democratic Gathering bloc did not specify its final position on the name of the future prime minister and its ministers. Its sources indicate that the President of the Republic was late in calling for binding consultations.

However, its priority is for the designated head of government to gain the confidence of citizens and the international community. Kataeb Party with the identity of a president familiar with economic policies, and able to create ties and relations with the outside community. The “Deputies for Change” will go to consultations as a single bloc, and they will define their vision and position on the governmental process as mandated and authored after the end of the parliamentary committees’ election, with their emphasis on the principle of separation of powers.

The Free Patriotic Movement has not yet made up its mind, and the stage of consultations and contacts is still going on. As for the Shiite duo, he supports the continuation of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati for his follow-up of contacts and negotiations with the International Monetary Fund from the very first moment.

Crystallizing the identity of the designated Prime Minister depends on the minority and the parliamentary majority, and the binding parliamentary consultations, which in turn await the invitation of the President of the Republic, Michel Aoun.
