Syria raises the price of diesel, coinciding with its rise in Lebanon

Since Iranian diesel entered the Lebanese market, the official chaos began, starting from the officials, who ignored the issue, to the Ministry of Energy that returned yesterday to the pricing of the diesel fuel tank in Lebanese pounds, at a time when oil importing companies refuse to sell in Lebanese pounds.

Thus, it has become certain that traders sell in US dollars, but why all this chaos and who is responsible for it? Definitely, it is the Ministry of Energy, and it seems that the issue is related to obligations outside the Lebanese borders, specifically Syria.

Sources following up on the fuel file, confirmed Sawt Beirut International, that Syria raised the price of a liter of diesel at the beginning of last August, and it is suffering from a severe shortage in the markets due to the blockade and international sanctions and the control of the oil wells by Asaad forces. Therefore, it urgently needs smuggled diesel fuel from Lebanon. The surprise was that the price of a liter of diesel in Syria reached $1 American, meaning the price of a plate is $20, while the price in Lebanon is less than $13. Therefore, the smuggling route of Lebanese diesel fuel into Syria will remain passable and secure, financially and strategically.

The sources confirmed to Sawt Beirut International that there is no solution to the fuel crisis in Lebanon as long as Syria is under sanctions and Lebanon is under Iran’s control.
