After the tourism sectors’ confusion  between Lira and dollar, Minister of Tourism in the caretaker government, Ramzi Musharrafieh, issued a decision requiring that hotel tariffs be in foreign currency for foreign tourists and in Lebanese pounds “Lira” for Lebanese citizens and foreigners residing in Lebanon.

A tourist resort in which the tariff has decreased by more than 60 percent against the foreign currency, Ahmed Al-Khair, the owner and manager of the resort, told “Sawt Beirut International” correspondent Ghassan Farran, “We do not differentiate between a foreigner, an Arab, and a Lebanese in terms of dealings. Also, foreigners are Lebanese who hold a second nationality, and they present to us their Lebanese passport. ”He added,“ In the past, our profit was up to 40 percent, and today it barely reaches 2 percent.

It is noteworthy that this decision includes several sectors, most notably hotels, restaurants, marine establishments, travel agencies and car rental agencies.
