After the latest decision issued yesterday by the Appeals Chamber of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Baha Hariri issued a statement in which he said:

The Appeals Chamber of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon reversed the acquittals of the killers Hassan Habib Merhi and Hussein Hassan Oneissi, who are both member of Hezbollah militia, and convicted them of all charges. This confirms once again that the first suspect in the assassination of Martyr Prime Minister Rafic Hariri is this party, its leadership and its members. Accordingly, we call on the Lebanese state to prosecute the criminals and hold Hezbollah responsible for covering up the perpetrators of this terrorist crime.

Hariri added in the statement: “As we affirm that we will no longer condone holding the perpetrators accountable, we call on the authority in Lebanon not to disregard the court’s decision and demand that the party hands over the accused to justice.”
