Turkey has closed off the Bosphorus and Dardanelles Straits to Russian warships, and notified Russian of its decision to prevent it from crossing the straits, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Turkey added, that it will prevent the warships of riparian and non-riparian countries of the Black Sea from crossing the straits, and that it adheres to using its powers under the Montreux Convention, with regard to the movement of ships in the straits in a way that prevents the escalation of the crisis in Ukraine.
