Turkish military operation against the PKK in northern Iraq

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced a new military operation against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, after Ankara obtained reports that the party was planning a large-scale attack.

The ministry revealed that Turkish warplanes, helicopters and drones bombed targets of Kurdish militants, ranging from camps to ammunition depots.
In addition to the air operation, commandos and special forces participated in the attacks, which were interspersed with intense bombing by Turkish artillery on PKK targets.
