Who is seeking the cancelation of municipal elections?

The drums of parliamentary elections sounded, yet there were no municipal elections. Nobody seems to mention the latter, which is set to take place next spring in conjunction with parliamentary elections, as if municipal elections have vanished from all political considerations.
Even President Najib Mikati has mentioned postponing the polls, despite the fact that the Ministry of Interior has found no logistical or practical barriers to their holding.

Source reported that it was decided to expand the terms of municipalities for a year on the grounds that it would be impossible to carry out owing to a lack of material and logistical capacities. Bassam Al Mawlawi, the Interior Minister, is preparing a letter to the cabinet in this regard, to be later sent as a draft bill letter to the Parliament to examine it and issue the decision accordingly.

On the other hand, well-informed sources reveal the Ministry of the Interior’s hidden capabilities, confirming that parliamentary and municipal elections can be held on the same day, resulting in significant financial savings, as well as the use of the same disqualification regulations in both electoral processes.

According to Sawt Beirut International’s political statistics, it is not in the political forces’ best interests to consider and examine such a topic at the moment, to avoid any partisan and politicized bases turn into pointless wrestling arenas. These elections, which took place six years ago, shook the ranks of all the political parties, causing the most vehement debates and conflicts.

One of the delay scheme’s riddles was also exposed. The regime’s plan is to exploit its existing municipal keys in the parliamentary campaign to bolster its regional influence and bases. As a result, you’ve killed two birds with one stone.

The most frightening thing is that there are more than 40 municipalities, run by mayors and governors, against which a dissolution judgment has been issued, and more than 25 suspended municipalities do not convene, implying that they are practically dissolved.

In conclusion, the many components of the corruption system have banded together to destroy democracy by manipulating municipal elections. Will this takeover be successful?
