Will the soaring rate of dollar on black market prohibit Lebanese from shopping during holidays?

With the dollar exchange rate exceeding 23,000 LBP, the prices of all consumer goods have soared, amid a total absence for any solution or measures on the horizon to control the exchange rate and ensure price stability, or even guarantees that it will not rise further with the advent of the festive season.

To shed light on this topic, a member of the Economic and Social Council, Adnan Rammal have joined us.

The Secretary general of the Lebanese Shipping Agents Syndicate, Marwan Al Yaman announced that the Saudi Ports Authority allowed transshipment works for Lebanese goods transported via sea, as well as transit activity, but keeping the Saudi market completely closed and halting trade exchange with Lebanon.

Al Yaman indicated that halting trade exchange with Saudi Arabia will damage the trade, industrial and maritime sectors, because trade exchange with the Saudi market amounts to about $900 million annually.
