Zaki to “Sawt Beirut International”: We do not have any initiative or pressure from the Arab League

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Husam Zaki,  met  Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri  Ain al-Tina . during his statement after the meeting, he was asked by SBI correspondent ” Rabih Shanatif about the obstacles to forming the government and whether he was carrying an initiative from the Arab League or if His presence only to pressure, Zaki said:  “The matter is not about an initiative and we are not here to exert any pressure. We are upset and concerned about the situation in Lebanon, whether politically or economically, and as we said previously, we hope that everyone puts the national interest above all else.” He added, “The ideas currently put forward, specifically presented by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri is based on ideas that could constitute a way out of the current crisis, and this matter must be the subject of consensus by all political parties, and so far this is not the case , and our mission as an Arab League is to help reach this consensus so that we get out of the current impasse.

Shantef also asked the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League if he was working under the French initiative or in coordination with the French. He replied, “We do not work under a non-Arab umbrella. We work according to the Council of the Arab League decisions and according to the line that these decisions are drawn through of the Secretary-General vision based on these decisions. Consequently, the situation we are working on is implementing the idea that can overcome  the current political impasse, in addition to the fact that the Arab League had previously supported the French initiative in terms of a government of specialists  to save the country from the current economic situation. Those ideas are good and it was agreed upon In the Arab world, but the difference is about the way it will be implemented and here we intervene to solve the situation.
