The local administration of Baja California, in northern Mexico, stated that a firefight at a car show on Saturday resulted in at least 10 fatalities and nine injuries.
The assault took place during an exhibition of all-terrain vehicle racing in Ensenada’s San Vicente neighborhood. According to reports of 911 calls, individuals armed with long weapons came out of a dark van at 2:18 p.m. (2118 GMT) and started shooting at participants at a gas station.
Municipal and state police, the Marines, the Fire Department and Mexican Red Cross, among other agencies arrived at the scene.
Mayor Armando Ayala Robles said state Attorney General Ricardo Ivan Carpio Sanchez commissioned a special group to investigate the shooting.
