At least 14 people were killed and 18 injured in a fire that broke out at a university dorm that houses instructors and students close to Erbil, in northern Iraq, on Friday night, according to the head of the local health directorate.
According to Kamaram Mulla Mohammed, the head of Soran’s health directorate, the fire started in a building in the small city of Soran, which is east of Erbil.
The death toll was confirmed by state media.
According to local news source Rudaw, the fire was put out by Friday night.
