Five people were killed and 24 wounded when a Cairo apartment building collapsed in the early hours of Saturday, Egyptian state news agency MENA reported.
Witnesses told Reuters many people were still trapped under the rubble of the 10-story building.
According to Al-Ahram newspaper, the incident took place in the eastern part of the Egyptian capital in the early hours of Saturday.
Those injured have been delivered to hospitals while the search and rescue operation is underway.
