At least six killed in India chemical factory explosion

An explosion at a chemical facility in northern India’s Hapur district on Saturday killed at least six persons and wounded 20, according to a police officer.

According to police spokesperson Surendra Singh, the catastrophe occurred when a boiler broke at an industrial plant in Dhaulana, around 60 kilometers from New Delhi.

“Rescue activities are continuing,” Singh added, adding that the death toll might rise because other people were seriously injured.

Industrial accidents are widespread in India and are frequently blamed on workers who disregard safety regulations as well as improper inspection by government personnel.
