Bahrain approves Valneva’s COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use

According to a statement released by Valneva on Tuesday, Bahrain has granted emergency use clearance to the COVID-19 vaccine created by the French business.

After signing an advance purchase agreement for one million doses in December of last year, Valneva intends to deliver the first shipments of its VLA2001 vaccine to the kingdom by the end of March.

“VLA2001 will provide a differentiated vaccine choice to the Bahraini populace and medical community as the only dual-adjuvanted, inactivated COVID-19 vaccine authorized in Bahrain,” stated CEO Thomas Lingelbach.

The business stated late last month that it expects to begin shipping its vaccine in Europe soon after it was recommended for conditional clearance at the end of March, after receiving a list of issues in an initial regulatory review.
