Bangladesh cargo ship off Ukraine hit by missile, one killed: Bangladesh government

On Thursday, a missile or bomb struck a Bangladeshi-owned cargo ship in the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Olvia, killing one of the ship’s crew members, and efforts were underway to rescue the remaining crew members, according to the state-run ship’s owner.

“The ship was attacked, and one engineer was killed,” Bangladesh Shipping Corp executive director Pijush Dutta told Reuters.

“It was unclear whether the attack was launched by a bomb or a missile, or by which side.” “The other 28 crew members are unharmed,” he continued, without providing any other information.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, the Bangladesh-flagged Banglar Samriddhi was trapped at the port of Olvia and was struck by a missile, according to a Bangladesh foreign ministry official.
