Biden says Russia to face consequences if it attacked Ukraine, keeps diplomatic option open

President Joe Biden warned Russia would suffer “rapid and serious repercussions” from the US and its allies if it invaded Ukraine, but he also hinted at the potential of negotiation.

“If Russia is honest about resolving our respective security concerns via conversation, the United States and its Allies and partners will continue to engage in good faith,” Biden said in a White House statement issued Monday.

“If Russia instead decides to abandon diplomacy and invade Ukraine, Russia will take responsibility and suffer rapid and harsh repercussions.”
