In a phone chat with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin on Friday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated the US’ “ironclad commitment” to South Korean and Japanese defense, according to the State Department.

Blinken praised South Korea’s “consistent efforts to enhance its relationship with Japan and accomplish the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” according to State Department spokeswoman Ned Price.

The two also discussed stability in the Indo-Pacific, including the Taiwan Strait, Price added.
