Kurt Campbell, the U.S. coordinator for Indo-Pacific affairs, emphasized on Thursday that the United States must expeditiously approve new agreements with three Pacific island states, as China is poised to exploit any failure on the part of the United States to uphold its obligations.
During a Senate hearing regarding his candidacy to become the next deputy secretary of state under the Biden administration, Campbell made remarks regarding new 20-year funding schemes for the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), the Marshall Islands (RMI), and Palau that are pending congressional approval.
