Civilian death toll in Ukraine at least 102 but feared higher: UN

At least 102 civilians have been murdered in Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion last Thursday, with another 304 injured, according to UN human rights director Michelle Bachelet, but the true count is likely to be “considerably higher.”

“Most of these victims were murdered by explosive weapons with a large effect area, including shelling from heavy artillery and multi-launch rocket systems, and air strikes,” Bachelet stated during the Human Rights Council’s opening session in Geneva. I’m afraid the real figures are much higher.”

She told the Geneva forum that 422,000 Ukrainians have fled their homes, with many more displaced within the country, and that an important debate on Ukraine will be held later this week.
