Deputy head of Sudan Sovereign Council announces support for PM

Hemeti, Deputy Chairman of Sudan Sovereignty Council, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, affirmed affirmed yesterday his full support for the reinstatement of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok during the transitional period, Anadolu news agency reported.
Dagalo, who is also the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, made the remarks during a meeting held in the capital, Khartoum, with the Norwegian envoy to Sudan, Andre Stansen, the Sovereign Council media office said in a statement.
According to the statement, Hemeti said the agreement signed between the head of the Sovereign Council, army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and Hamdok on Sunday “will contribute to completing the democratic process, leading to elections at the end of the transitional period”.
Stansen stressed his country’s support for the Sudanese people and for the steps that culminated in the signing of the political agreement.
On Sunday, Hamdok and Al-Burhan signed a political agreement that reinstated Hamdok as prime minister for a transitional period until elections are held in the country. He was removed from the position a month earlier in what many have described as a coup carried out by Al-Burhan.
