Egypt and Saudi Arabia launched a comprehensive awareness campaign, “Know Your Rights and Be Reassured,” to educate Egyptian expats on their rights and responsibilities under the Kingdom’s Labor Law.
The campaign is part of the Egyptian Ministry of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs’ role to care for Egyptians abroad, qualify and educate the labor force for foreign markets, and activate the direct cooperation mechanism with the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
The initiative was launched in the presence of the Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, Suha el-Gendy, and the Saudi Labor Attaché in Cairo, Faisal al-Otaibi.
The Egyptian Minister lauded the historical bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing that they enjoy solid strategic ties.
Gendy reiterated the importance of the awareness campaign in defining rights and duties and overcoming any challenges that may face Egyptian expats in the Kingdom.
It also introduces the laws that protect individuals’ rights and informs them of their duties determined by the organizing laws.
The minister explained that the project took several months of preparations from both sides to be completed in the required form, adding that everyone is proud of the result as the first cooperation between the two ministries.
For his part, the Saudi labor attaché in Cairo affirmed the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the Egyptian Ministry of Emigration and the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
He said the Kingdom focuses its new employment strategy on work efficiency and the employment of specialized skilled workers, explaining that the campaign’s primary goal is to protect Egyptians.
It aims to ensure they don’t fall for fake employment contracts and combat any forms of human trafficking.
The Saudi attaché confirmed that the campaign is a message of appreciation from Saudi Arabia to Egyptian workers, and aims to take care of them before their travel and after they arrive in the Kingdom.
It educates the possible workers about the policies and regulations in force, which reduces any problems or obstacles they may face.
According to the Ministry of State for Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, the campaign includes several awareness videos discussing all the details that Egyptian workers need to know about their rights and duties and the laws in force before traveling.
It also addresses the Saudi campaign “A Nation Without Violations,” and some instructions and information that help Egyptian expats complete the required papers.
