European Commission proposes sanctions against Patriarch Kirill

The European Commission has proposed punishing the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, as part of a sixth package of measures in response to the invasion of Ukraine, as stated in a document seen by “AFP” today.

The new list, which needs the approval of member states, includes the names of 58 people subject to sanctions, including a number of Russian military personnel, in addition to the wife, daughter and son of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
