Five consecutive earthquakes jolt Iran’s Hormozgan

The third earthquake at 10:36 a.m. today – Wednesday, June 15- was recorded in Hormozgan province near Jennah county. The National Seismological Center announced its longitude as 54.4 degrees and its latitude as 26.96 degrees, at a depth of 8 kilometers.

The epicenter was reported at 13 km from Jennah (Hormozgan), 16 km from Koukherd (Hormozgan), 26 km from Bastak (Hormozgan), 187 km from Bandar Abbas, and 347 km from Shiraz.

The National Seismological Center, affiliated with the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, also reported the occurrence of the third and fourth earthquakes in Charak port of Hormozgan province between 10:34 and 10:45 this morning.

The third quake, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale at 10:34:38 ​​a.m. near the port of Chark, struck at a depth of 16 km and had a longitude of 54.35 degrees and a latitude of 26.72.

The quake occurred 7 km from Charak port (Hormozgan), 33 km from Jennah (Hormozgan), and 42 km from Kish Island (Hormozgan), and the epicenter was located 198 km from Bandar Abbas and 368 km from Shiraz.

A fourth earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck at 10:45:42 a.m. today. The longitude of the earthquake was 54.36 degrees, its latitude was 26.75 degrees, and it occurred at a depth of 22 km.

The epicenter was reported at 8 km from Charak port (Hormozgan), 31 km from Jennah (Hormozgan), 40 km from Koukherd (Hormozgan), and 196 km from Bandar Abbas, and 366 km from Shiraz.
