France announced a modest cabinet change on Saturday, with Jacqueline Gourault stepping down and being replaced as Minister for ‘Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Government’ by Joel Giraud.
Nathalie Elimas, a junior minister in the Ministry of Education, will also leave the administration, the French president said.
The government upheaval comes just one month before the presidential election in April, which opinion surveys predict will result in President Emmanuel Macron’s re-election.
