Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz will head to Washington, Wednesday, for a one-day emergency visit to meet with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, according to Al-Hurra’s correspondent, Tuesday.

Al-Hurra correspondent reported that Gantz will also meet with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

He added that the Israeli minister will discuss in Washington strategic issues related to the Iranian nuclear file, preserving Israel’s security supremacy, and stability in the Middle East region.

During his visit to Washington, Gantz is scheduled to meet with other officials in the US administration to discuss the program that was drawn up by the security services in order to install a long-term truce with the Gaza Strip and to support the moderate forces in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Authority.

In statements, the first of their kind, Netanyahu said that “if we are forced to choose between friction with our great friend the United States, and removing this existential threat, then removing this threat will prevail.”
Nevertheless, Netanyahu said that he “hopes that this will not happen.”

For his part, Gantz said, “Israel will not have a better partner than the United States, even if there are disagreements, they will be resolved in a direct dialogue in closed rooms and not in a dialogue that carries a challenge that may harm Israel’s security.”

“The United States is working for Israel to be strong and will continue its efforts to make Israel its most important ally,” Gantz added.
