The Hamas government in Gaza announced on Thursday that 14,854 people had died in the Palestinian enclave since Israeli soldiers and Hamas militants started fighting on October 7.
According to the Hamas government, 36,000 people were injured and 6,150 children and 4,000 women were among the deceased. Its health ministry has previously stated that because of the fierce fighting, it is unable to provide precise numbers of casualties.
