Reuters could not immediately confirm the problem affecting the sites.

The retail website of Amazon.com Inc also seemed to face an outage. Amazon was not immediately available to comment.

Leading websites operated by news outlets including the New York Times, the Financial Times, Bloomberg News and the Guardian, were down.
