The Head of Parliament’s Health Committee, MP Assem Araji, affirmed that while he does not support a lockdown at the present time, “if the increase of Covid-19 infections persists, we may close near the end of August.”
“The delta strain is rapidly spreading,” Araji stated in an interview with Al-Jadeed channel, “and if the number of infected persons in intensive care grows to more than 30%, we must resort to a new lockdown.”
The virus appears to be spreading in Lebanon, where the pandemic’s symptoms have once again become concerning, with the Ministry of Public Health reporting 843 new cases in Lebanon, increasing the total number of positive cases to 554,458. It also announced the registration of a new virus-related fatality, bringing the total number of deaths to 7,891.
