IMF says expects to revise downward its forecast for global growth

The International Monetary Fund intends to lower its prediction for global economic growth in 2022 further next month, according to IMF spokeswoman Gerry Rice, after moves by the World Bank and the OECD to lower their own forecasts.

This would be the company’s third downgrading this year. The IMF previously reduced its prediction for global economic growth by nearly a full percentage point in April, to 3.6 percent in 2022 and 2023.

Rice told a regular IMF briefing that the global outlook remained positive, albeit at a slower pace, but that a handful of nations may be in recession.
