According to Johns Hopkins University, the global death toll from the pandemic has topped 4.1 million, while the total case count has surpassed 192.5 million.
The US remains the most affected by the pandemic, as it has confirmed over 34.2 million cases so far and a death toll of 610,000. It is followed by India, which is gradually recovering from a major outbreak this spring, that has registered 31.2 million cases and over 418,000 deaths. At the same time, Brazil has confirmed over 19.5 million cases and the second-highest death toll in the world, at around 547,000 fatalities.
