Indian Health Ministry reported on Wednesday 62,224 new COVID-19 infections over the past 24 hours.

The South Asian country’s total COVID-19 case load now stands at 29.63 million, while total fatalities are at 379,573, the data showed.

India added 2,542 deaths overnight.

The Serum Institute of India is preparing to produce Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine in the country, government official Vinod Kumar Paul said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

The vaccine maker on Monday had said its COVID-19 vaccine was more than 90 percent effective in a large, late-stage U.S.-based clinical trial.
