Iran summons Norway’s ambassador over ‘interventionist’ comments

According to official media, Iran summoned Norway’s ambassador on Monday in protest over what it called “interventionist remarks” made by the speaker of the Norwegian parliament in favor of anti-government protests.

Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian woman of Kurdish descent who had been arrested by morality police for allegedly violating the tight dress code for women, died as a result of the unrest that began after her death. Tehran has accused foreign powers of igniting the unrest.

“Iran strongly condemned interventionist comments by the Norwegian parliament speaker which were also judgmental and untrue,” the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

It was the second time the ambassador has been summoned to Iran’s foreign ministry in the past two months.
