Israeli army: Raids on al-Shati camp targeting Hamas members in schools, mosques

On Monday, the Israeli army stated that ongoing raids are being carried out in the al-Shati camp within the northern Gaza Strip. These operations are targeting the infrastructure of Palestinian militant group Hamae situated in areas densely populated by civilians, including schools, universities, and mosques.
“Hamas’ terror infrastructure was deliberately located inside civilian structures, including in the ‘al-Quds’ University, and inside the ‘Abu Bakr’ mosque,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

The army added: “The troops uncovered a section of the mosque which housed a large number of explosive devices and flammable materials. During the activity, the troops seized dozens of weapons, military equipment, and operational plans belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization.”
Additionally, the Israeli army “entered the residence of a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist and located a large number of weapons inside the kids’ room of the residence.” It stated: “During an additional activity in the area of Beit Hanoun, [Israeli army] troops located a tunnel shaft, intelligence materials of the terror organization, and weapons.”

A day earlier, the Israeli army said its soldiers killed “numerous terrorists” in al-Shati camp and uncovered a large number of “terrorist” infrastructure in the area.

Over the weekend, Palestinian officials said that fighting intensified near Gaza City’s overloaded hospitals.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh called on the international community to call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, state news agency WAFA reported on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) urgently called for the protection of civilians in Gaza trapped amid Israeli attacks, whether they are trying to evacuate or staying where they are.

“An unbearable human tragedy is unfolding in front of our eyes. People call us day and night, saying they are afraid to open their door for fear of getting killed and pleading to help them reach safety,” said William Schomburg, the head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Gaza.
