In an effort to put further pressure on Israel to get more supplies into the impoverished Gaza enclave, where the humanitarian situation is getting worse, Jordan’s King Abdullah on Thursday asked UN representatives and foreign non-governmental organizations to take action.
They said that the monarch declared that Israel’s continuous withholding of adequate humanitarian flows into the 2.3 million-person densely populated enclave was intolerable at an emergency meeting of UN officials, heads of Western non-governmental organizations, and representatives of Arab donors in Amman.
A delegate who asked to remain anonymous since the discussions were being held in a confidential manner stated, “The monarch urged the international aid community to do their bit and save Gazans who have endured a brutal war that has turned their land into an unliveable place.”
