The Kremlin said on Monday that the West has provoked a worldwide food crisis by imposing the worst sanctions on Russia in modern history over the Ukraine conflict.

According to the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin agreed with the UN conclusion that the globe was facing a food crisis that may lead to famine.

“Russia has traditionally been a rather dependable grain supplier,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. “We are not the cause of the issue.”
