Latvian parliament votes to allow its citizens to fight in Ukraine

Latvia’s parliament voted overwhelmingly on Monday to enable its citizens to fight in Ukraine if they so desire, according to a statement from the legislature.

“Our citizens must be able to assist Ukraine and volunteer to serve there to protect Ukraine’s independence and our common security,” said Juris Rancanis, chairman of the parliamentary defense, home affairs, and corruption prevention commission, which crafted the law.
